BBIU Financial Report 2025
As an Independent union, we are dedicated to complete financial transparency – both for our members and for our supporters like you. So, let’s break down where the money you’ve donated to our union goes!
The following information is compiled in our union’s LM-3 report, a financial report which is filed with the Department of Labor’s Office of Labor-Management Standards. You can read our entire LM-3 here.
In 2025, our union took in: $23,924
$1,688
came from our members who voluntarily donate money to our union each month. Roughly 20% of our members voluntarily contribute money to our union! 25% of our members rely on SNAP benefits to afford groceries – the fact that so many pay voluntary dues goes to show how committed our members are to winning a strong contract.
In 2025, our union spent: $25,772
$0
went to any of our union’s officers. $0 went to any union staff because, as an independent union, we don’t have any! Instead, union members and organizers volunteer their time to the fight by writing these emails, putting together training sessions, talking to coworkers, and more!
$893
went to office and administrative expenses (i.e. printing flyers, mailing strike pay, other things like that)
$3,926
went to professional fees (i.e. pretty much everything else – paying for designs for our merchandise, renting out bargaining space, paying for union events, etc.)
$20,953 of that went to paying striking workers
so that they could keep paying their bills as we fight for a livable wage. Since we are up against a Nestlé-owned multinational chain, we know that our ability to withhold our work is the only thing that will get our employer to bargain a contract.
With your donations and continued support our union is able to build up our strike fund so that way we can take on our Nestlé owned employer to win livable wages! With low overhead and a commitment to taking direct action to win a contract which will improve our lives, you can rest assured that supporting our union means directly supporting baristas who struggle to make ends meet.
We have exciting plans for 2026! Thank you for your continued solidarity.
Solidarity Forever,
Blue Bottle Independent Union (BBIU)
